Rochfortbridge Sewerage and Water Scheme

Description of Project:

M&B Construction Ltd were the Main Contractors on this project and were appointed to the role of Project Supervisor Construction Stage.

The contract included the construction of a new gravity sewer network in Rochfortbridge town and the construction of a new Wastewater Treatment Plant. Sections of the existing wastewater treatment plant were also upgraded and incorporated into the new plant. The new treatment works included the following structures.

  1. Stormwater Holding Tank and Inlet Pumping Station.
  2. Inlet works including, preliminary screening and grit removal.
  3. Aeration tank with multiple diffused air treatment cells.
  4. Settling tank.
  5. Picket Fence Thickener
  6. 3 nr pumping stations
  7. Control Building.
  8. Tertiary Treatment Building including chemical dosing and storage facilities
  9. Tertiary Sand filter beds
  10. River Outfall structures.
  11. Demolition and decommissioning of existing pumping stations, Imhoff Tank, filter beds and associated structures.

The works also included a new pumping station on the Mullingar Road which required the use of close sheet piling due to the severe nature of the ground.
